Abstract
Abstract 454,588. Television. BAIRD, J. L., and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 58, Victoria Street, Westminster. April 4, 1935, No. 10514. [Class 40 (iii)] A scanning-spot moves in a series of parallel lines of a length which is equal to an integral submultiple of the length of the scanned area in the direction of the scanning-lines. The area is scanned in a plurality of sections extending across the area perpendicularly to the scanning-lines. In the case of a cathode-ray tube, a generator of saw-tooth waves 11 co-operates with a switch producing rectangular impulses 12. According to modifications ; the length of the lines scanned by a mirror drum is determined by a mask which is moved periodically in the direction of the lines, Fig. 3 (not shown) ; the movement along the scanning-line is produced by a sectionalized Kerr cell, the sections of which are opened in turn by associated photo-electric cells, which are traversed by a beam of light, Fig. 4 (not shown) ; the other component of scanning is produced by a mirror drum, which, in conjunction with fixed reflectors, also causes the traversal of the photo-electric cells associated with the Kerr cell. Specification 374,564 is referred to.
