Improvements in and relating to electric condensers
Abstract
Abstract A ceramic material for use in making an electric condenser with a low angle of loss in the dielectric, contains above 19 per cent titanium dioxide, and the titanium content is varied up to pure sintered titanium dioxide according to the desired dielectric constant. The material is kept free from materials such as alkali and iron oxide which increase the dielectric loss. Chemically-prepared titanium oxide may be mixed with kaolin, clay, steatite or magnesium hydrates, with plasticizing agents such as dextrin, starch or sugar solution or with oxides of beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, zinc, silicon, lead, aluminium or manganese. The materials are worked to shape and after drying are sintered. Titanium chloride may be mixed with titanium dioxide, and ground with alkali soap. Alkali chloride is washed out and the material pressed and fired. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 23351/09, 139,315, 232,679, [all in Class 22], and 396,532.
