Improvements in or relating to signalling systems wherein the signals are formed by electrical impulses
Abstract
Abstract 437,539. Electric signalling systems. COMPAGNIE POUR LA FABRICATION DES COMPTEURS ET MATERIEL D'USINES A GAZ., 12, Place des Etats- Unis, Montrouge, and BARTHELEMY, R., 14, Rue du Plateau, Fontenay-aux-Roses, both in Seine, France. June 18, 1934, No. 18033. [Class 40 (i)] [See also Group XL] Apparatus for controlling a pointer &c. in accordance with the number of impulses received comprises a gas discharge tube P which derives its anode voltage from a condenser C1 and to the grid of which the impulses are applied. Each impulse, irrespective of its amplitude, causes the condenser to discharge through the tube and in the intervals between impulses it is re-charged through the resistances R, r. The voltage drop in the latter causes current to flow in a shunt circuit including resistance f and rectifier V to charge a condenser C2 the voltage of which is thus a measure of the number of impulses. This voltage is applied to the grid of a valve L having a measuring instrument in its anode circuit. After each reading the condenser C2 is discharged manually. Alternatively the charging impulses may be used to control a step-by-step counter or a ballistic galvanometer. In a further modification signalling is effected by low frequency alternating current the frequency of which determines the order, and is indicated by a current measuring instrument in the anode circuit of the gas-discharge tube.
