Abstract
Abstract 433,241. Catamenial appliances. VILLE, E. J. DE, 1, Ridge Avenue, Halethorpe, Maryland, U.S.A. July 14, 1934, No. 20675. Convention date, July 17, 1933. [Class 81 (ii)] A holder for supporting sanitary pads comprises an oblong body portion provided with straps adapted to retain a pad in position, both the body portion and the straps being formed integrally from a strip of material which is substantially the width of the body portion. The material may be thin rubber or like flexible material, and it is cut to form a blank comprising the body portion 1, Fig. 1, and strap portions 4 separated by folding-lines 3 along which apertures 2 are disposed. The straps 4 are folded along the lines 3 on to the body portion 1, and the ends 5 of the straps are folded over the edges of the body and vulcanized to its underside. The holder thus formed retains a sanitary pad 25, Fig. 2, the ends of the pad being placed beneath the straps 4 and the fastening tapes 10 passed through the openings 2. The edges 9 of the body portion may be cut away, as shown, to prevent direct contact between the material and the skin of the wearer. Alternative shapes for the cut-out blank are described in the Specification.
