Abstract
Abstract 429,783. Turbidometers. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MACHINERIEEN-EN APPARATEN FABRIEKEN MEAF, (formerly NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MACHINERIEEN-EN APPARATEN FABRIEKEN), 30, Croeselaan, Utrecht, Holland. Dec. 29, 1933, No. 36648. Convention date, Jan. 3. [Class 97 (iii)] [See also Groups XXXVIII and XL] A turbidometer comprises valves E1, E2, rendered alternately conducting by the alternating potential from a transformer U fed from an alternator W on the same shaft as a motor M which drives shutters R1, R2. These are so arranged that when the valve E 1 is conducting, light from a source Q travels to a mirror X2 whence it is reflected on to a light-sensitive cell P, while when valve E2 is conducting the light passes to the cell P via mirrors X1, X3 and through the region, between these mirrors, in which the smoke &c. occurs, the turbidity of which it is desirous of measuring. A crossed coil measuring instrument K associated with the anode circuits of valves E1, E2 measures the difference in strength of impulses which are received from the cell P and applied in parallel to the valve grids.
