Abstract

Abstract 420,958. Vacuum gauges. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Võsteras, Sweden. May 3, 1934, No. 13387. Convention date, May 4, 1933. [Class 106 (ii)] Comprises a resistance 1 located in the vacuum to be measured and formed from a strip of metal foil fed from a source 5 of alternating current and connected to an electrical measuring instrument 7, 8 through one or more transformers 4. A condenser 6 may be connected in parallel with either winding of the transformer, and, as shown, the instrument is of the iron ring type with a voltage coil 8 connected through a resistance 9. The instrument indicates the proportion between voltage and current and may be graduated in terms of vacuum. The current through the resistance 1 and the voltage across the latter may be transformed by separate transformers which may have one condenser each for compensating exciting currents, and further, the iron resistance for keeping the current constant may be arranged on different sides of the current transformer employed. A bridge method or other differential method may be used, or if the current is kept constant, a voltmeter. The resistance 1 of platinum or aluminium foil is made in two parts in order to make connections 11 at the same end. At the opposite end the two parts are connected by a guided metal body 12 which is held in good heat contact with the vessel 2 by springs 13.
