Abstract

Abstract <PICT:0418959/III/1> <PICT:0418959/III/2> In dialysing-apparatus of the filter-press type comprising a series of alternately connected chambers constituted by frames between which septa are clamped, a perforated flexible mat of indiarubber is provided on each side of each septum. Fig. 1 shows a mat having square perforations 3. The strips 4 between the holes may be provided with projecting studs (not shown). The supporting frames may be constituted by two sets of strips 5, Fig. 5, of half the thickness of the frame, each set being flush with one face thereof. The strips may be arranged to provide the minimum resistance to diagonal flow, and their outer faces may be grooved to reduce the area in contact with the rubber. They are provided with gaps 6 at their centres to eliminate stresses during casting. Specification 391,068 is referred to.
