Abstract

Abstract 389,216. Automatic regulation. JACKSON, G., Scotney House, Hinckley Road, Leicester Forest East, Leicestershire. Dec. 31, 1931, No. 36086. [Class 38 (iv).] The current supplied to a heater 112 is regulated by varying the effective turns of the transformer secondary. 27 by the rotation of a drum carrying a stepped contact strip 38. This drum is mounted on the same shaft as two more drums bearing strips 32, 34 and two motors 36, 37 arranged for operation in opposite directions. When the mercury rises in a thermostat 117, the circuits of relay switches 28 are completed one by one causing them to make contacts 29 and break contacts 30 and thus cause motor 36 to rotate the drums a distance proportional to the number of switches operated. When the mercury falls, contacts 29 are broken and contacts 30 made causing motor 37 to rotate the drums in an analogous manner to motor 36 but in the opposite direction.
