Improvements in or relating to pressure or pressure difference gauges
Abstract
Abstract 370,257. Pressure gauges. CONTZEN, H. and ZUCKER, K., 46, Westfalenstrasse, Dusseldorf, Germany. June 11,. 1931, No. 16980. [Class 106 (ii).] Relates to gauges of the type in which the liquid contained in an annular tube is displaced by the pressure fluid causing the tube which is pivoted to rotate and consists in balancing the torque by a weight suspended over a curve or cam connected to the balance by a movable rod. The annular tube a containing liquid. is mounted on a knife edge b and is divided into two parts by a partition s on either side of which are connected pipes z to admit fluid at pressures the difference of which is to be measured. A rod f connects the tube to a. double lever g mounted on a pivot m the lower part of the lever being formed as a curve orcam upon which bears a strap carrying a. weight p. When the balance is in zero position, the strap d passes through the pivot m. Upon rotation, the leverage of the weight p increases and this increase may be made to follow a particular law by suitably designing the cam. The pointed ends of the rod fare mounted in conical bearings safety devices preventing the rod falling out. The bearing m is adjustably mounted and the range may be altered by changing the weight p. In order to avoid changing the weight it may be adjustably mounted on a rod connected to the strap d at one end the other end being carried by a link. In a modification to compensate for density, the end e of the link is lowered by a linkage operated by a manometer. In a further modification both the pressure difference and the pressure may be recorded on a travelling record sheet.
