Improvements in or relating to electrical coils
Abstract
Abstract 365,551. Inductances. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London, and RUST, N. M., 109, London Road, Chelmsford. Oct. 20, 1930, No. 31441. [Class 37.] To reduce capacity effects in transformer and like windings, the conductors are wound upon a foundation consisting of a plurality of superimposed layers of paper or similar tape which has been cut away to a skeleton or ladder-like form between its side edges as indicated in Fig. 1 (Prov.). Fig. 2 (Prov.) shows a winding arrangement for a radio frequency transformer in which a secondary winding is arranged between two independent primaries, each winding structure being formed by winding a plurality of layers of tape, then a layer of conductor, then winding on tape and conductor simultaneously for a number of turns, then another layer of conductor and so on, end connections being brought out from the sides. Fig. 4 (Comp.) shows a section through a winding arrangement for an audio frequency transformer having a number o f primary and secondary sections P, S, arranged as indicated, separators Sp of the form shown in face view in Fig. 5 (Comp.) being inserted between each complete coil structure which is built up in a radial direction in the manner previously described. Other forms of separators of solid and skeleton form are described. Alternatively the conductors may be arranged to occupy only that part of the space between the unbroken edges of the tape on which they are wound so that the edges of the tape may serve as separators between adjacent coil structures.
