Abstract

Abstract 353,586. Laces ; lacing - fastenings. WISEBURGH, J., 59, Shacklewell Lane, Stoke Newington, London. May 20, 1930, No. 15524. [Class 43.] A retaining device for an elastic lace has a centra aperture 2 of slightly smaller diameter than the normal diameter or greatest width of the lace 3 and a gap 4 arranged to one side of and tapering into the aperture, the greatest width of the gap being slightly larger than the diameter of the aperture, so that the device may be applied to the lace at any desired point and centralized thereon by a lateral movement when the lace is extended, and secured in the desired position when the tension on the lace is released. In a modification, an aperture 7, Fig. 4, is provided in place of the gap 4 so that the retaining device may be slipped on the lace from its end and afterwards centralized thereon. The edge 5 of the aperture 2 may be turned slightly outward so that the sharp inner edge presses into the lace and prevents it being slid along the lace except in one direction, or the edge of the aperture 2 may be provided with prongs or spikes 6, Fig. 4. The device may take the form of a shallow cupshaped disc which may be furnished on its underside with a tubu ar extension 8, Fig. 6, of slightly conical formation and having a slot 9 of sufficient width to permit the device to be placed on the lace when the lace is extended. An inwardly directed projection 10 in the extension 8 serves to locate the device in any position on the lace.
