Improvements in shoes and the like provided with foot-arch support

Abstract

[Class 81 (ii).] In a shoe of the kind having a foot-arch support formed by the inner sole cover, which is stiffened longitudinally with interposed wire fabric, and has supporting bodies fixed to the cover sole or wire fabric by snap fasteners, the curved supporting body is provided with a recess to accommodate the snap fastener. Other supporting bodies may be connected to the cover sole or stiffening layer by pins resembling drawing pins. The cover sole a of the inner sole h is made of thin upper leather and has a lining c with an interposed wire fabric layer d. A metatarsal support e is secured to the cover sole by a snap fastener, one half h of which is fixed in a recess g of the support as by means of pins or rivets, the other half i being connected to the wire fabric d. The cover sole is fixed on a clip m passing through a slot n in the inner sole and, by moving the cover sole, the correct position for the arch support is obtained. Additional supports f are then inserted at the back under the cover sole, adjusted to suit the foot, and secured. to the cover sole or wire fabric by pins p. The cover sole is then fixed in the shoe by an adhesive, sewing, or the like.
