Thermostatic control device for regulating the heating of metal melting pots
Abstract
Abstract 344,641. Thermostats. INTERTYPE CORPORATION, 1440, Broadway, New York, U.S.A. Feb. 21, 1930, No. 5829. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1929. [Class 64 (ii).] In a device for regulating the heating of metal melting pots, a thermal element in the metal in the pot controls both the supply of gas to a burner and the current to an electric heater. The thermal element comprises a tube a and rod b, the rod projecting into a casing c where it engages a bell crank lever e, f, the arm f of which serves as the closure member for the gas outlet pipe d<1>, from the casing c. The bell-crank lever is pivoted against the point of an adjusting screw h and is pressed towards the valve seating by a spring n. The arm f actuates a rod i which presses against a pivoted spring-pressed lever m. An adjustable screw p presses against a lever m<1> supported by a flat spring wand having a pin x adapted to tilt a mercury switch l. The casings c, k may be separated, and the thermal element a, b may be inserted in place of the plug u, so that the rod b contacts with the screw r to actuate the switch alone.
