Improvements in and relating to coupling or connecting devices for parachutes
Abstract
Abstract 300,094. Bowden, A. C. May 8, 1928. Bayonet-joint fastenings.-In a bayonet-joint coupling device for parachutes the spigot member 10 having a hard steel pin 12 with projecting ends engaging bayonet slots 22 in the socket member 21 has a spring- pressed sliding catch 13 which snaps into a bayonet slot when the parts are coupled, to prevent accidental uncoupling. The catch and spring are housed in an undercut groove in member 10, the spring bearing at one end against the bottom of an aperture (not shown) in the catch 13, the other end of the spring having an eye (not shown) entered in a saw-cut in a block 18 fixed by a screw which also passes through the eye. The exposed surface of the catch is roughened to facilitate release by hand. Two catches may be provided to engage both bayonet slots. The members 10, 21 have loops 11, 23 for attachment of the cords &c. of the parachute and the harness of the user.
