Ear instruments and hearing appliances. - Apparatus for the treatment of deafness comprises a cabinet large enough to receive one patient on the side or sides of which is mounted apparatus 11, 12 for generating air vibrations of frequency in the region of or above the upper limit of audition; means such as telescopic tubes 13, 14 are provided for projecting the vibrations in a desired direction in the cabinet and devices 15 for controlling, measuring and indicating the frequency are mounted outside the cabinet. The vibrations may be produced by a diaphragm electromagnetically or electrostatically actuated by means of thermionic valve circuits. The vibrations may alternatively be produced by piezo-electric crystals. The cabinet may be airtight and means provided for adjusting the pressure therein.
