Abstract

Abstract 291,402. Aktiebolaget Ljungstr÷ms Angturbin. June 1, 1927, [Convention date]. Regenerabors of the kind in which the same channels in a regenerative mass are passed alternately by the gas giving off heat and the gas absorbing heat, the mass and the inlets and outlets for the gases being adapted to move relative to each other, have different parts of the regenerative mass of a different physical or chemical nature, e.g. the hotter parts of beat-resisting material and the. cooler parts, where condensation of moisture takes place, of corrosion-resisting material. As shown, the regenerative mass 1 rotates in a casing 3 divided by a partition 4, 5 into channels 6, 7 and 8, 9 through which air and hot gases are forced and drawn respectively by fans 13, 11. The rotor comprises a frame 2 divided into sectors by radial walls 22, and Fig. 2 shows various forms of the regenerative material, the sectors 23 - - 28 containing corrugated plates, sector 29 having pipes containing strips of various formations and sector 30 containing bent metal strips. The lower parts of the regenerative mass are made of heat-resisting material and the upper parts of corrosion-resisting material, and the different materials may be welded together, preferably before cutting. Alternatively, the plates &c. may be coated with resistant substances. When plates of different materials are used they are laid in different directions to prevent plates of one material sliding down among those of another material. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a form in which the frame 2 is filled with balls around which the gases flow. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
