Abstract
Abstract 288,714. Flinn, H. V., and Henley, J. Jan. 12, 1927. Atmospherics, eliminating; secret systems.- Relates to a construction of transformer winding designed to eliminate atmospheric or other undesired signals, or to remove at the receiving station confusing signals deliberately superposed at the transmitting end for purposes of secrecy. The transformer comprises two primary windings wound respectively right and left handed and laid on the core so that they interpenetrate. As shown in Fig. 3, the desired signal together with interference is led from aerial A and a detector valve M through the primary winding of the transformer Z shown in dotted lines. The disturbing signals received alone on the separately timed aerial A<1> are then fed through the second primary winding of the same transformer. As the two windings are mutually opposed, the disturbances are balanced out in the secondary winding and the desired signal alone reaches the amplifying set M, M. Specifications 4125/09, 222,216, and 268,055 are referred to.
