Abstract
Abstract 253,953. Courtaulds. Ltd., Napper, S. S., and Gardner, H. D. Sept. 17, 1924. Cellulose xanthate, processes for making filaments from.-Hollow threads. filaments, bands, &c. are made by projecting into an acid bath con. taining a zinc salt in solution a viscose containing either a fluid in suspension or emulsion, which in the bath will give rise to a gas, or alternatively a substance such as sodium carbonate, which in the bath will give rise by chemical action to bubbles within the filaments &c. In examples, a viscose to which sodium carbonate has been added either during its preparation or subsequently thereto. or which contains an excess of carbon disulphide, is projected into a bath containing sulphuric acid, zinc sulphate, sodium sulphate, and glucose; the sodium sulphate may be replaced by ammonium, magnesium, iron, aluminium, or chromium sulphate, or mixtures of these Specifications 8700/92. 20801/00, [both in Class 2, Acids and salts, Organic &c.], 7748/10, 15752/10, 406/11, 24291/14, 143,253, and 189,973 are referred to.
