Abstract A device for implantation by insertion into a difficulty accessible location of a substantially tubular, radially expandable prosthesis (2), comprising in combination such prosthesis (2) and concentric therewith a flexible probe (1) with means (200) for maintaining said prosthesis (2) in a radially contracted state and for releasing same at the desired location, said means for maintaining the prosthesis comprising a hose (5) concentrically surrounding said probe (1) and radially surrounding the prosthesis (2) to form a compartment therefor, characterized in that the probe (1) has a central axial channel (4) enabling supply of a liquid flushing medium at its other end and that the probe (1) is provided with at least one radial aperture (27) opening into the prosthesis compartment to enable flushing of the prosthesis compartment to remove gases therefrom before implantation. <IMAGE>

A device according to claim 3, wherein the hose is leak-tight, both ends of the hose are tightly connected to the probe (1) and the surface of the probe adjacent to the hose is leaktight between the end-connections of the hose, whereby the hose and the probe form a chamber (25) and wherein means (14,22) are arranged for pressurizing a liquid in chamber (25), whereby the liquid reduces the contact pressure between the hose walls of the double-walled section (51,52) thereby reducing the friction between the outer hose wall (52) and the inner hose wall (51) at axial relative movement between same, characterized by at least one small hole (29) extending through the hose wall at the front end of the doublewalled section (51,52) to enable displacement -by flushing of gases present between the walls of the hose (5) in the double-walled section, the size of said hole (29) being such that it enables escape of the gases but prevents or substantially reduces passage of the liquid used for pressurization.
