Abstract
Abstract 206,132. Soc. Anon. des Chaux et Ciments de Lafarge et du Teil, (Assignees of Maguet, M.). Oct. 26, 1922, [Convention date]. Granulating.-Molten slag is granulated by the action of a gaseous or liquid fluid under pressure by causing inclined converging straight jets of the fluid to play uniformly on a stream of molten slag which falls for a certain distance through the atmosphere before it is acted upon by the said jets, the action of the jets being in the direction of flow of the slag from the periphery to the centre and the axis of the flow of the stream coinciding with the axis of convergence of the jets. In one form, Fig. 2, the jets of fluid from the orifices b, which are arranged uniformly and at the same distance from the axis of the member a and uniformly inclined to the axis, converge at a point c in the slag jet h. The orifices b may be provided with screwed nozzles, and may be replaced by an annular aperture. In another form, Fig. 8, a member f consisting of two oppositely directed truncated cones may be provided as shown.
