Improved Means for Automatically Regulating or Controlling Pumps and Compressors.
Abstract
Abstract 25,879. Knorr - Bremse Akt. - Ges. Nov. 21, 1911, [Convention date]. Regulating delivery by varying speed of motor.- Relates to controlling- devices for pumps wherein the action of the pump is rendered operative at a predetermined minimum pressure and inoperative at a predetermined maximum pressure, and consists in providing the switching-out device with pressure fluid until the minimum pressure has been attained to prevent a premature switching-in of the pump. Fig. 1 shows the controlling-device. Liquid is fed from the pressure reservoir by a pipe A, and, when the pressure thereof rises sufficiently, opens the valve C and flows by the pipe J to the switching-out device. The liquid at tha same time acts upon the piston F and opens the valve C<1>, permitting direct communication between the pipes A, J. When the pressure falls below the predetermined minimum, the piston L falls, opens the valve K, and allows liquid from the pipe J to flow to exhaust. The piston F may be replaced by a solenoid traversed by the current of an electric motor driving the pump, as shown in Fig. 3. In the form shown in Fig. 2 the piston F acts directly on the valve C, so that when the latter is opened and fluid passes to the chamber G and the valve C cannot close until the minimumpressure regulator allows the fluid to escape.
