Improvements in Sub-aqueous Sound Producers.
Abstract
Abstract 4967. Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges. March 5, 1909, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Subaqueous sound signals.-In a subaqueous sound-transmitter, the sounds are produced by disruptive electrical discharges from a condenser taking place between spark electrodes situated either in the water that is to transmit the sound, or in a space containing alcohol, oil, &c. and separated from the outside water by a sound-conducting wall h. The walls of the vessel containing the electrodes may be so formed as to concentrate the sound-vibrations in the desired direction. The pitch of the note may be altered by varying the electrical values of the discharge circuits, the temperature of the dielectric, or the size of the electrodes. The Specification in the original form, as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), comprises also the use of electrolytic interrupters as soundproducers; this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted..
