The middle part a has an opening for fastening the holder b by a screw or rivet, or by soldering. Lugs a', a<2> have holes for tension screws c<1>, c<2> for attachment to the sound-box c, and the lugs are bent so that only a very small part of the spring bears against the inner sides of the screw-heads. lndentations may be provided for balls d, or suitable pivots or knife-edges may be employed between the spring plate and the sound-box. Only the central part a vibrates when small tonal effects are being recorded or reproduced, but with louder effects, the oscillation extends to the whole spring.
