Improvements in or relating to Sound Boxes or Reproducers for Talking Machines.
Abstract
Abstract 21,746. Singleton, C. J., and Hanson, C. J. W. Oct. 1. Phonographs &c.-Consists in improved means, particularly applicable to machines of the disk type, for supporting and adjusting the stylus bar. The spring e, by which the cross-head d is connected to the support a', is formed with an attenuated part m, Fig. 9, or parts o', Fig. 10, at each end between the cross-head and the screws f by which it is adjusted. The bearing-surfaces between the crosshead and the bar a<1> are formed by flattened cylindrical parts g, Fig. 3, arranged with their axes at right-angles, portions n of the spring e being cut out to receive them. One of the blocks g may be formed as a knife-edge, or one or both may be of elliptical shape. Connexion is made between the stylus bar c and the diaphragm by a helical spring, or by a C or S spring in the plane of the rod or in a plane at right-angles to it.
