Improvements in Vertical Bar Fencing.
Abstract
Abstract 15.103. Smith, J. H., and Bath, A. B. July 6. Fencing. - Relates to the locking of the uprights and horizontals in such a manner that a flexible verticalbar fencing for uneven ground can be easily fitted together on the spot. Two kinds of uprights, Figs. 1 and 7, are used. The locking - uprights, Fig. 7. are passed upwards through holes in the lower horizontal, until the latter rests on the displaced piece a, shown in horizontal section in Fig. 5, whereas the remaining uprights are passed downwards through the bottom horizontal, and then the upper horizontal is placed in position, resting on the displaced pieces a, and kept in position by rivets or bolts b attached to the locking-bars. Bolts may be used in all cases, and the bolts b may be dispensed with by displacing a small piece of the upright after the horizontal is in position.
