Abstract 22,142. Day, C. A., [Staubschutz Gse.]. Nov. 2. Refuse, treating; disinfecting.- Offal, refuse, or the like is separated into finer portions, consisting mainly of sand and ashes, and coarser portions, consisting of paper, rags, bones, &c., and the coarser portions only are disinfected. The disinfection is effected by means of superheated steam, heated air, steam and air, or other hot gaseous products, in a hermetically-closed room containing a shaking- device, preferably in the form of an elevator discharging upon sorting-aprons.
