Abstract 26,644. Putzeys, E. Dec. 16. Joint - making packing; spigot- and-socket joints.- Packing for spigot- and - socket and similar joints of water mains, sewers, and the like is made in the form of one or more fusible rings C. The rings are made of an insulating-composition, such as a mixture of terracotta, sulphur, and tar. Spiral metal conductors D, connected to terminals 1, 2, 3, 4, are embedded in the rings, which are inserted in the joint and fused by passing an electric current through the conductors.
