Improvements in, or connected with, Expansible Drain Plugs or Stoppers.
Abstract
Abstract 12,179. Burn, R. G. L. May 28. Testing.-Relates to inflatable plugs used for stopping drains for testing purposes. One is shown in longitudinal section in Fig. 1 and, to a smaller scale, in elevation in Fig. 2. It consists of a pair of metal ends A, A, connected by a central tube B, to which an india-rubber tube C is attached by wiring or otherwise. A canvas or other cover D, to prevent the excessive inflation of the tube C, is attached in the manner shown. The ends of the cover D are gathered and sewn to bands E, E' attached to the discs A, A by cords J, H tightened into grooves in the rims of the discs. Provision is made at K, K for the attachment of the inflating-tube, and at L, L for the attachment of chains or cords by which the plug is drawn into position. If desired, a rod or cane may be secured in the tube B.
