Abstract

Abstract 153,084. Stevenson, J. I. D. July 29, 1919. Tracing-devices.- Consists of a combined perforating and tracing device, particularly for use in cutting-out wearing-apparel, by which perforations are made in the pattern and liquid &c. is ejected through the holes to mark the material beneath. The form shown in Fig. 1 comprises a plunger-operated pricker e passing through a reservoir c containing liquid or powder which is ejected through an aperture d. In a modification, the liquid &c. is contained in a compressible tube. In another modification, the liquid reservoir is replaced by a spring-urged crayon. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the tracing-device c is mounted on the pricking-wheel a, the liquid being periodically released by a rotating cam b; a guiding-wheel k may be included. In a further modification, the outflow of liquid is controlled by a valve which is operated by the pricking-wheel itself. Separate wheels, geared together, may he used for perforating and tracing. In a further modification, the perforating and tracing devices are arranged on the two arms of a scissor-like instrument. The device may be attached to compasses &c. The perforating-point map be detachable, to facilitate its replacement by others of different sizes.
