System and method for programmable sequence control
Abstract
Abstract 1497158 Automatic control WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 19 May 1975 [20 June 1974] 21207/75 Heading G3N A control system operative with an industrial process comprises a first memory having stored therein a plurality of first output governing functions from which first mode output data is selected, a second memory having stored therein a single record output governing function from which second mode output data is provided and, a sequencer operative to inhibit or enable an output device for activating a particular controlling device. As shown, a programmed sequence controller incorporates a low-security output sequencer 900 and a high-security output sequencer 901, each responding to input signals from an input module 9. The module 9 is conditioned over a line 902 to generate signals representing process input conditions on lines 903, 904. The sequencer 900 does not distinguish between critical and non-critical process conditions but, at its output, by a jumpfacility, certain signals are fed to the sequencer 901, through a line 906, while the remainder are outputted through a module 8. The sequencer 901, in response to signals on lines 905, 906, carries a predetermined straight-through program and provides signals critical to the controlled process on a line 907 which are outputted through the module 8. Certain of the module outputs 909 are then used as input conditions for sequencer 900, over a line 910, and other outputs 908 are used over a line 911 as input conditions to sequencer 901.
