Measuring volumetric flow rate
Abstract
Abstract 1467574 Measuring fluid-flow rate electrically SIEMENS AG 21 July 1975 [19 July 1974] 30493/75 Heading G1N The rate of flow of a fluid through a conduit 8 Fig. 1 is determined by the displacement of the free end of a ferromagnetic spring blade 4, fixed at one end to a flange 6, the free end being associated with two magneto-resistive elements 26, 28 and a permanent magnet 24, whereby the fluidflow related displacement of the blade 4 causes the flux from the upper pole of the magnet, which originally passed through element 26, to be deflected and pass through element 28. The differential change in resistance of elements 26, 28 sensed in a bridge network is indicative of the fluid-flow rate. In another embodiment Fig. 3, the deflectable element comprises a frame baffle-plate 44 fixed to the flange 6 by side extensions 45, 47 via torsion members 46, 48. The magneto-resistive elements and permanent magnet combination 22 is fixed in the central cut-out of the baffle plate 44.
