Abstract 1369361 Making punch blades EMIL FAUTH 23 Aug 1972 [24 Aug 1971] 39276/72 Heading B3A [Also in Division B4] A punch knife for a press or punch apparatus used in the shoe industry for cutting out, e.g. sole shapes, comprises a continuous blade with a cutting edge 4 and a frame member 2 attached to the external side of the blade, internal opposed surface portions of the blade, when viewed in cross-section, diverging with respect to each surface portion in a direction away from the cutting edge. The blade is made by grinding the cutting edge on a strip of steel which is then stretched and cold-worked so that a continuous blade is formed, the frame member then being secured to the blade by welding 3.
