Non-Return Valve
Abstract
Abstract 1,189,399. Valves. A.M.I.S. APPARECCHI E MACCHINE IDRAULICHE SPECIALI S.p.A. 2 Aug., 1968 [5 Aug., 1967; 10 July, 1968], No. 36966/68. Heading F2V. A non-return valve comprises a flexible hollow valve member 1 having a pair of lips 14, 14<SP>1</SP> defining a slit, and a continuous rib 16 formed on the internal surface of one of the lips adapted to make substantially linear sealing contact with the opposite face. The member 1 is formed with a cylindrical portion 2 having a clamping flange 3 and two reinforced walls 11, 11<SP>1</SP> with integral webs 22 and thickened edge portions 15. The members fit over a rigid tubular inlet member 5 having tapering edges 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. The lips 14, 14<SP>1</SP> are formed with reduced portions 19, 19<SP>1</SP>, reinforced by thickened regions 18, 18<SP>1</SP>. During manufacture, at least the lips 14, 14<SP>1</SP> are moulded separately, and then are interconnected by welding, before the member is finally vulcanized and groove is formed in the edge of the lip 14<SP>1</SP> to accept the rib 16. In Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), slits (24) are formed between the interconnected edges of the webs (22a) adjacent the inlet, to allow fluid to flow and unblock dirt which prevents the lips 14, 14<SP>1</SP> from opening.
