Improvements in Ice Making Apparatus.
Abstract
Abstract 117,700. Barr, J. Aug. 8, 1917 Ice-making; plate systems and apparatus. -The ''plates" are formed of a series of double refrigerating pipes, arranged either concentrically or side bv side, depending into the tank, the inlet and outlet being connected by telescopic joints with a double stand pipe so that, after the ice block has been thawed off, the plates may be lifted and swung clear of the tank without disconnecting the pipes. In the concentric tube arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the supply pipe a<3>, a<6> is made to slide in the inlet stand pipe A by means of a gland a<4>, and the return pipe b<3>, b<6> slides in the outer stand pipe B by means of a gland b<4>. An upward extension of b‹ passes through a guide C and supports the plate by a stay b<12>. The pipes a<3>, b<3> extend below the bottom of the tank, so that when the plate is lifted clear they are still in connexion with their stand pipes A, B. In a modification. the freezing-pipes are arranged side by side and are connected at their lower ends by a coupling.
