Abstract
Abstract 1,050,080. Closure caps. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Aug. 12, 1965. No. 34488/65. Heading B8T. An inwardly opening valve 8 (Fig. 2) is mounted on an outwardly opening valve portion 2 connected by a flexible diaphragm 3 to a rim 1 of a closure cap, particularly for use on vehicle radiators, so that the interior of the neck 6 on which the cap is seated is opened to the atmosphere if the internal pressure either decreases or increases outside a prescribed range. The rim, valve portion and diaphragm may be moulded integrally from plastics material, the neck being sealed by the coaction of an internal flange 6b with a rubber washer 7 on the valve portion. As shown, lugs 1b on the rim 1 engage with a lip 6a on the neck, metal spring clips on the lugs 1b minimizing wear.
