Urethral prosthesis
Abstract
Abstract This urethral prosthesis consists of a flexible tube 1, made of a biologically acceptable material, having a length substantially equal to that existing between the urinary striated sphincter and the external orifice of the urinary canal, the said tube 1 being intended to have its end which is upstream with respect to the direction of the urinary flow, situated under the urinary striated sphincter, and being delimited by a wall 2 comprising openings 3, 3a. The openings 3, 3a are made, over the entire length of the tube 1, on the zone of the tube situated near the so-called ventral generatrix of the said tube, which is intended to be substantially in contact with the ventral wall of the urethra, each opening 3, 3a constituting a whistle-type notch, whose median plane is oblique with respect to the axis of the tube in the zone of the opening, the upstream edge of the notch forming a claw 4 intended to interact with the internal ventral wall of the urethra, when the said prosthesis is fitted. Application in urology for the treatment of urinary stenosis.
