HEART VALVE PROSTHESIS AND ITS PRODUCTION PROCESS
Abstract
The invention relates to prostheses intended to replace heart valves and a method of making them. The prosthesis is made from a flat piece of a stabilized biological membrane 2, the flat piece being folded along a fold line 5 and being secured by seams 3 and 6 to a flat flexible non-biological base material 1 in order to to form a lamella 4. The active edge of the valve being obtained by folding and not by cutting, the valve has no tendency to deteriorate at this location.
