Cassette form peristaltic pump - has feed tube resting on base between cartridge sides, pressed by cam operated leaf spring
Abstract
Abstract The peristaltic pump is suitable for medical use e.g. for drip feed, transfusion of slow dosage. It is enclosed in a cassette, to be used once only, so that problems of sterility are avoided. It employs a leaf spring with a straight piece terminating in a V- shaped portion which is operated by a rotary cam. The straight portion is forced down by the nose of the cam onto the feed tube, while the spring rocks about an axis inside the V portion. The device can be actuated electronically or electromechanically so as to deliver 10 to 10,000 millilitres per 24 hours. The feed tube can rest on a bearing surface between two walls of the cartridge.
