Abstract

Abstract The invention relates to a microcatheter comprising a tube-like basic body with at least one lumen extending from a distal to a proximal end, for which a connecting member has been applied to the proximal end and wherein, in the direction from the proximal towards the distal end, the diameter of the basic body decreases, over at least part of its length, and the flexibility increases, wherein the decrease in diameter and the increase in flexibility are obtained in that a flexible layer of material has a substantially constant thickness over the length of the catheter and the thickness of a stiff layer of material decreases from the proximal towards the distal end.

Claim 2
Dependent Claim 18 words
Microcatheter as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lumen is bounded by a layer of low friction material.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 20 words
Microcatheter as claimed in one of the previous claims, comprising a reinforcing layer braided or wound of threads or filaments.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
Microcatheter as claimed in claim 3, wherein the pitch of the braided or wound threads or filaments increases towards the distal end.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
Microcatheter as claimed in one of the previous claims, wherein the diameter decreases from 1,0 or 0,8 mm to 0,75 or 0,65 mm.
