Abstract

Abstract A flexible, multilayered tube with superior chemical resistance, heat resistance, and airtightness, as well as superior flexibility and resistance of the inner surface to staining. The tube comprises a flexible, multilayered tube having a first layer comprised of a non-porous polytetrafluoroethylene structure and a second layer comprised of a porous polytetrafluoroethylene structure laminated onto the outer peripheral surface of said first layer. The tube is useful as a medical tubing and in particular useful as an endoscope tube.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 57 words
A flexible, multilayered tube comprising a first layer comprised of a non-porous polytetrafluoroethylene structure and a second layer comprised of a porous polytetrafluoroethylene structure laminated onto the outer peripheral surface of said first layer, and with the thickness of the first layer being 1/1000 to 1/2 of the combined thickness of the first layer and second layer.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 21 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in claim 1 wherein the first layer and second layer are laminated by fusion under heat.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 21 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in claim 1 wherein the first layer and second layer are laminated via an adhesive interlayer.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 17 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in claim 3, wherein the adhesive interlayer is a thermoplastic fluorine resin.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 28 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in any preceding claim, wherein the first layer comprises a layer of polytetrafluoroethylene film and a layer of non-porous thermoplastic fluorine resin film.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 36 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in any preceding claim, in which the polytetrafluoroethylene and fluorine thermoplastic resin are exposed at the inner surface of said first layer wherein the inner surface is a virtually smooth surface.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 27 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in any of claims 1 to 4, wherein the first layer comprises porous polytetrafluoroethylene film made non-porous with a thermoplastic fluorine resin.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 19 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in claim 7, wherein the thermoplastic fluorine resin is a tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether copolymer.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 17 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in claim 8, wherein the thermoplastic fluorine resin is fluorinated ethylene propylene.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 36 words
A flexible, multilayered tube described in any preceding claim, with a fourth layer comprised of porous polytetrafluoroethylene laminated onto the outer peripheral surface of the second layer via a third layer consisting of an airtight material.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 13 words
A medical tubing comprising the flexible, multilayered tube described in any preceding claim.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 15 words
A tube for an endoscope comprising the flexible, multilayered tube described in any preceding claim.
