Abstract

The catheter system is used for the mechanical dilation of coronary stenoses and has a balloon dilatation catheter (1), a controllable guide wire (2) and a guide catheter (4). For the perfusion of vascular fluid during dilatation, the balloon dilatation catheter (1) has distal and proximal to the balloon (5) side openings (12, 13), which are connected to each other via a lumen (18) extending in the balloon (5). An outlet opening (14) is provided proximal to the balloon (5) and an end hole (16) for the guide wire (2) distally. Furthermore, proximal to the outlet opening (14), a shaft (17) of the balloon dilatation catheter (1) is designed with two lumens, a first lumen (15) for a pressure fluid (8) for expanding the balloon (5) and the second lumen (18) for receiving the guide wire or a temporary stiffening wire (3) and for rinsing the side openings (12, 13), for example with heparin. Different applications or treatment methods are possible with the same catheter system.
