An apparatus for treating a deposit (120) within a vessel or cavity (110) of a patient, which comprises: (a) a device (142; 240) having a proximal end and a distal end; and (b) supplying means coupled to said proximal end of said device for supplying a fluid under high pressure; (c) directing means coupled to said distal end of said device for directing a stream of the fluid under high pressure distal to said distal end of said device; characterised in that the directing means comprises a plurality of high pressure jets (150, 160; 252a - 252n) and each of the jets has a separate supply (156, 166; 256a to 256n) of the fluid.
