Abstract In a guiding wire (1), for example for the introduction of a catheter, having a front introduction end formed in particular by a point (2) curved in the shape of a J and a guide rod (3) adjacent thereto having guide sections (7, 8, 9) of differing flexibilities, the guide rod (3) is formed by an integral, one-component wire core (5) which extends as far as the rear end (4) and has differing rigidities in different sections. <IMAGE>
