Abstract
Abstract A material in which functional groups are introduced on a substrate by such methods as coating or oxidation or through a compound containing hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) and in which heparin is covalently bonded to these functional groups either directly or through a coupling agent, exhibits anti-thrombotic properties, and may be utilized in catheters, tubes, sheets or in medical implements, such as oxygenators or pump-oxygenators employing them.
