Abstract

Abstract Translated from German Der Fixateur intern dient zum steifen Verbinden von zwei Wirbeln. The internal fixator is used to rigidly connect two vertebrae. It consists of two Schanz screws (4) per swivel and two threaded rods (6) and one connecting element per Schanz screw (4) in order to connect them firmly with a threaded rod (6). This connecting element has a sleeve (7) which can be displaced and rotated on the threaded rod, and means for securing the sleeve (7) against displacement and twisting. According to the invention, the clamping device is formed by an eye (13) arranged laterally on the sleeve (7) with a conical opening and a collet (14) for the Schanz screw (4) located in this opening. The collet is provided with an external thread (14a) on which a nut (15) is seated. It is thus possible to exert considerably greater forces on the Schanz screw with less effort and in a simple manner than with the clamping jaws used hitherto.
