Abstract
Abstract The expanding dowel is used partic. for setting bone fragments by a support plate. It has a portion slotted in the longitudinal direction, expanded when a fixing screw is driven home. There are a series of expansion sections (1-4), one after the other, in the longitudinal direction of the dowel, with the slots (5-8) in adjacent sections offset from each other through 90 deg.
