Abstract Translated from German Es wird ein Cholesterinesterasesubstrat der allgemeinen Formel I X - - A - - Y - Chol      I beschrieben, worin A eine Alkylen- oder Alkenylengruppe mit 1 bis 20 C-Atomen, Chol den 3-Cholesterinrest, X den Rest einer aromatischen Hydroxy- oder Thiolver­bindung und Y -S- oder -O- bedeuten. Zur optischen Bestimmung der Cholesterinesterase unter­wirft man ein solches Substrat der Einwirkung der cholesterinesterasehaltigen Probe und bestimmt die Menge der freigesetzten aromatischen Hydroxy- oder Thiolverbindung direkt oder, nach Kopplung mit einem geeigneten Chromogen, die daraus gebildete Farbe op­tisch.
