Abstract

Abstract A disposable safety syringe (1) with a hypodermic needle (10), of a type comprising a syringe body (2) inside which a plunger (13) is guided for sliding movement and wherein said needle (10) is guided for movement to an away position inside the syringe body (2), further comprises: an engagement peg (27) formed at the plunger (13) end (28) integrally therewith; a holding pad (29) for said needle (10) arranged to be movable within said body (2) and provided with a seat (30) for engagement with the peg (27); and an elastically yielding seal (15) having a non-uniform thickness and being attached to the plunger (13) end (28). The needle (10), as caught up after injection by the plunger peg engaging in a corresponding seat on the pad, is fully retracted into the syringe body and subjected to a sideways push from the seal (15) effective to offset it and make re-use of the syringe impossible.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 135 words
A disposable safety syringe (1) with a hypodermic needle (10), of a type comprising a syringe body (2) inside which a plunger (13) is guided for sliding movement, said needle (10) being guided for movement to an away position within the syringe body (2), characterized in that it comprises: an engagement peg (27) formed at the plunger (13) end (28) integrally therewith; a supporting pad (29) for said needle (10) arranged to be movable axially within said body (2), in said pad (29) there being formed an engagement seat (30) for said peg (27); and an elastically yielding seal (15) mounted to the plunger (13) end (28) to apply an elastic pressure offset from the needle axis and tending to bring the needle out of alignment once the needle has been retracted into said body.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 135 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
A syringe according to Claim 1, characterized in that said peg (27) has a substantially mushroom-shaped head (32).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 31 words
A syringe according to Claim 1, characterized in that said seal (15) is affixed to the end (28) of the plunger (13) at a debased location relatively to said peg (27).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 31 words
A syringe according to Claim 1, characterized in that said seal has a non-uniform thickness comprising a portion (31) defining at the surface a ramp sloping gently toward the pad (29).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 103 words
A disposable safety syringe (10) with hypodermic needle (10), of a type comprising a syringe body (2) inside which a plunger (13) is guided for sliding movement, said needle (10) being guided for movement to an away position within the syringe body (2), characterized in that it comprises a coil spring (3) inserted in a pre-compressed state into said body (2) between the bottom wall (23) thereof and the head (33) of a rod (4) as an extension whereof said needle (10) is mounted, a yielding means being arranged to release said spring (3) on the plunger (13) end contacting said head (33).
Claim 7
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 62 words
A syringe according to Claim 5, characterized in that said means comprises an expansible washer (6) provided centrally with a bore (34), and a groove (14) extending radially to the syringe axis and being formed inside the body (2), in said bore (34) there being inserted a spreader member (7) adapted to expand the washer (6) and drive it into said groove.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 23 words
