Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 35 words
A molded article which is returnable to a previously memorized shape, comprising one or more polymers selected from lactide homopolymers, glycolide homopolymers and copolymers of lactide and glycolide, said polymers having a shape memory property.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 26 words
A molded article according to claim 1, wherein said polymers are copolymers containing 10 - 90 mol % lactide and 90 - 10 mol % glycolide.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
A molded article according to claim 1 wherein said polymers are copolymers containing 20 - 80 mol % lactide and 80 - 20 mole % glycolide.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
A molded article according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3 wherein the article is a clip for tissue suturing.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 24 words
A molded article according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3, wherein the article is a device for preventing blood vessel obstruction.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 25 words
A molded article according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3 wherein the article is a device for expanding a restricted blood vessel.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 27 words
A molded article according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3 wherein the article is an actuator for releasing a drug from a medical capsule.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 23 words
A molded article according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3 wherein the article is a clip for a cerebral aneurysm.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 28 words
A molded article according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3, wherein the article comprises rings for attachment to the ends of an artificial blood vessel.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 20 words
A molded article according to any one of claims 1, 2 or 3, wherein the article is a hemostatic clip.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 57 words
A process for preparing a molded article according to claim 1, comprising the steps of: molding a polymer selected from lactide homopolymers, glycolide homopolymers and copolymers of lactide and glycolide into an article of a desired shape; deforming the molded article into another shape by heat-softening; and cooling the deformed article to cause the article to harden.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 81 words
A process for preparing a molded article according to claim 1, comprising the steps of: molding a polymer selected from lactide homopolymers, glycolide homopolymers and copolymers of lactide and glycolide into an article of a desired shape; heating the article in the desired shape for a prescribed period of time; cooling the article; deforming the molded article into another shape by heat-softening at a temperature lower than said first heating; and cooling the deformed article to cause the article to harden.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 22 words
Use of a lactide homopolymer, glycolide homopolymer or copolymer of lactide and glycolide for the manufacture of an article having shape-memory properties.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 25 words
Use of an article according to any one of claims 1 to 10 in a process wherein the article returns to a previously memorized shape.
