Abstract

Abstract The automatic transmit power level control in multiline radio links using a multilevel QAM modulation is basically comprised of: - means to derive a threshold signal for each RF channel in each receiver, - means to multiplex all threshold signals from the individual receivers, - means to insert an appropriate signal in the said multiplexer as necessary to identify the station which it comes from, - means to further multiplex the said multiplexed signal with other service signals, - means to insert this dual-multiplexed signal in the frame of the main information signal sent to the other direction of transmission, - means to receive and demultiplex the received signal two times, - means to process the said demultiplexed signal so as to derive, on one hand, a transmit power level control signal, protected from possible faults or malfunctions of the main transmit digital channel and, on the other hand, the station identification signal, - means to apply the said control signal to the pre-distortion circuit in the transmit power amplifier.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 239 words
1) A transmit power control system in multiline radio links, using microwave signal digital modulation, and specifically the so-called multilevel QAM modulation, the said control is used in multiline radio link systems and specifically in each RF transmitter that receives, from the respective receiver associated therewith, a signal indicating the levels of the useful signals received on that RF channel and sends it back to the said associated transmitter in order to regulate the said transmit power level, characterized by the fact that it is comprised of: - means to derive a threshold signal for each RF channel in each receiver, - means to multiplex all threshold signals from the individual receivers, - means to insert an appropriate signal in the said multiplexer as necessary to identify the station which it comes from, - means to further multiplex the said multiplexed signal with other service signals, - means to insert this dual-multiplexed signal in the frame of the main information signal sent to the other direction of transmission, - means to receive and demultiplex the received signal two times, - means to process the said demultiplexed signal so as to derive, on one hand, a transmit power level control signal, protected from possible faults or malfunctions of the main transmit digital channel and, on the other hand, the sta tion identification signal, - means to apply the said control signal to the pre-distortion circuit in the transmit power amplifier.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 239 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 22 words
2) The control system in accordance with claim 1, characterized by the fact that it also includes means for being performed manually.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 41 words
3) The control system according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that the pre-distortion circuit has a corrective effect on the distortion of the RF transmit amplifier only during the periods of time when the transmit power level is maximum.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 56 words
4) The control system according to claims 1 and 3, characterized by the fact that the pre-distortion circuit keeps the conventional automatic transmit power control circuit operating in the period of time when the APC control is not operating, and maintains the previously acquired situation in the periods of time when the APC control is operating.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 13 words
5) The system substantially in accordance with what described and represented here above.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 13 words
5) The system substantially in accordance with what described and represented here above.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 42 words
6) The circuits for the embodiment of the system in accordance with the previous claims, specifically for radio links using multilevel QAM modulation in configurations of up to 11 + 1 RF channels, substantially in accordance with what described and represented hereabove.
